The goal of this presentation is to provide you with information about assessment and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). More specifically, the program will address prevalence and incidence of ASD, terminology associated with ASD and issues of comorbidity. A theoretical framework of the DSM-5 will guide the understanding of the issues presented. Upon completion, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the spectrum of autism
  • Discuss two components of the diagnosis
  • Identify at least three common characteristics of autism
