The purpose of this presentation is to provide information to support nurses’ delivery of evidence-based interventions for tobacco dependence. Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the morbidity and mortality of tobacco use
  • Describe the health benefits of quitting
  • Describe the role of nicotine addiction in difficulty quitting
  • Describe the use of pharmacotherapy and counseling for tobacco dependence treatment
  • Describe how the 5 As are used to deliver  an evidence-based intervention
  • Describe the resources for tobacco dependence treatment, including the use of quitlines
  • Describe barriers to nursing intervention
  • Describe the impact of nursing intervention for tobacco dependence on saving lives
