The purpose of this program is to inform nurses about the Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses as developed by the American Nurses Association, how those rights may be reflected in position statements, how they may affect professional practice, and how they affect hospitals seeking American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program designation. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • List the seven rights found in the ANA’s Nurses’ Bill of Rights
  • Explain how the rights may be used to influence professional practice
  • Describe how the rights link to ANCC Magnet hospital status
