The goal of this module is to inform nurses about the Institute of Medicine report The Future of Nursing, Leading Change, Advancing Health and its recommendations for nursing practice and U.S. healthcare. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Discuss the report’s four key messages.
  • Explain the eight recommendations for transforming nursing practice. 
  • Describe two major challenges to changing the U.S. healthcare system.
