Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program for nurses, occupational therapists and respiratory therapists is to provide evidence-based practice information that will promote care providers’ management of secretions in pediatric patients. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe correct suctioning techniques for pediatric patients
  • State the negative effects of instilling normal saline before suctioning
  • Identify correct practices for manual chest physiotherapy
