Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to provide evidence-based practice information that will promote nurses’ management of three patient safety issues in the perioperative setting: hypothermia, hypoglycemia and hand-offs. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • State risk factors with evidence-based practice data for unintended perioperative hypothermia
  • List nursing interventions for the hypoglycemic patient
  • Describe an effective perioperative hand-off
