The purpose of this program is to inform nurses, dietitians, emergency medical technicians, paramedics and physicians about therapeutic hypothermia, including its history, indications for use, care of patients and possible future uses. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Explain indications for therapeutic hypothermia
  • Describe care of the patient who is undergoing therapeutic hypothermia
  • Discuss the process of initiating and terminating therapeutic hypothermia
