The purpose of this program is to provide nurses, athletic trainers, dietitians, fitness professionals, health educators, and speech-language pathologists with information about spinal cord injury rehabilitation and the management of chronic spinal cord injury. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe functional potential for people with spinal cord injury at specific levels of injury
  • Discuss interventions for specific physiological alterations after spinal cord injury
  • Describe signs and symptoms and management of the following complications of chronic spinal cord injury: autonomic dysreflexia, chronic pain, spasticity, syringomyelia and heterotrophic ossification
