Objectives:
The purpose of this program is to help nurses, dietitians, fitness professionals, health educators, and physicians recognize symptoms of the perimenopausal years and identify available treatments. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify four common symptoms experienced by women in the perimenopausal years
  • Discuss the current recommended use of hormonal therapy
  • Name the three groups of nonhormonal prescription medications used to treat vasomotor symptoms
