The goal of this continuing education program is to inform nurses how to create a culture of safety in the perioperative setting. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Describe the attributes of a “just culture” as it relates to reducing medical errors.
  • Review common operating room (OR) processes that are prone to error.
  • Identify the six steps to creating a culture of safety in the OR.
