Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to help nurses care for women experiencing menstrual cycle disorders. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Name three differences between premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
  • Describe pharmacological, nonpharmacological, and complementary therapies recommended for both PMS and PMDD.
  • Discuss adverse effects and patient education related to medications used to treat PMDD.
