Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to familiarize nurses and health educators with health issues associated with indoor environmental radon and spur them to actively convey that risk to their patients. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify the source of indoor environmental radon, and its association with three types of cancer
  • Discuss health professionals’ roles in disseminating information about radon’s health effects, testing, and techniques for mitigation
  • List three reasons why the public still fails to view radon as a health risk
