The goal of this continuing education program is to update nurses’, physicians’ and EMTs’ and paramedics’ ability to recognize and understand different types of pain experienced by hospice patients. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:

  • State the World Health Organization’s (WHO) three-step analgesic ladder for pain control
  • Relate key philosophical components of hospice care and two barriers to pain management
