Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to acquaint nurses with the specialty of forensic nursing science and to describe how to identify school shooters through use of homicide classifications. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Define personal-cause homicide
  • Describe characteristics of the four subgroups of personal-cause homicides
  • Define four practice settings in which nurses may be able to identify the red flags of potential school shooters and initiate prevention programs and intervention strategies
