Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education module is to update nurses, dietitians, physical therapists, physicians, speech-language pathologists, and radiologic technologists on recent developments in the treatment of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • List four symptoms and signs of ALS
  • Cite three nervous system functions that remain unaffected in ALS
  • List four important functions of the healthcare professional team in the care of patients with ALS
