Objectives:

The goal of this webinar is to provide nurses with an update on hereditary breast cancer, including identification of families at risk, the genetic testing process, and management of individuals at high risk for developing breast cancer due to family history. Upon completion, the participant will be able to:
  • List key indicators of hereditary breast cancer syndromes
  • Describe basic components of the genetic counseling/testing process including potential limitations, benefits, and challenges in genetic testing
  • Discuss prevention strategies for those at an increased risk of breast cancer based on family history
  • Discuss appropriate early detection strategies for those at an increased risk of breast cancer based on family history
