- Explain how obesity contributes to metabolic syndrome
- Explain how changes in the United States dietary intake have contributed to obesity and metabolic syndrome
- Define the glycemic index and glycemic load of foods and explain how this concept is applied to dietary control of metabolic syndrome
- Plan two days of meals using the basic components of protein, fat, and carbohydrate in the ideal diet for metabolic syndrome
- Explain the role of physical activity in improving insulin sensitivity
- List two harmful affects each for smoking and alcohol in metabolic syndrome
- List four types of pharmaceutical agents that may be prescribed for metabolic syndrome
- Discuss three concerns in children developing metabolic syndrome
