The goal of this gestational diabetes mellitus continuing education module is to provide dietetics practitioners with the basic guidelines for the diagnosis and management of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) so they can evaluate and counsel their patients. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • List risk factors for developing GDM
  • Name lab tests and interpret blood glucose values to guide diagnosis and management of GDM
  • Develop nutrition care plans based on nutrition recommendations for GDM
