The goal of this continuing education program is to help nursing assistants identify and decrease risk for falls in older adults and to understand how to apply The Joint Commission’s (TJC)National Patient Safety Goals for reducing the risk of patient harm from falls. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify risk factors for falls in elderly patients
  • List actions that can prevent falls in home, hospital and long-term care settings
  • Help nurses check patients for injuries after a fall
