Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to provide dietitians, health educators, pharmacists and physical therapists with information on the causes of obesity, measuring body weight, and the regulation of energy. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Define obesity, explain how to measure it and list its potential health complications
  • Discuss the consequences of body fat distribution in men and women
  • List the hormones involved in the regulation of food intake and explain the role they play in weight gain and obesity
