The goal of this pregnancy and nutrition continuing education course is to provide dietitians, health educators and pharmacists with information on how nutrient needs are altered during pregnancy due to the physiological changes of pregnancy. After completing this course, the learner will be able to:
- Define the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy
- Explain how these physiological changes alter nutrient needs during pregnancy
- Discuss how omega-3 fatty acids affect both the mother and developing fetus, and identify good food sources of omega-3 fatty acids
