Objectives:
The goal of this course is to provide dietitians, health educators and pharmacists with information on how nutrient needs are altered during pregnancy due to physiological changes brought on by pregnancy. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to:

  • Explain how these physiological changes alter nutrient needs during pregnancy.
  • Discuss how omega-3 fatty acids affect both the mother and developing fetus.
  • Identify good food sources of omega-3 fatty acids.
