The goal of this continuing education module is to help nurses, paramedics, EMTs and physical therapists differentiate between identification, treatment and care of patients with left- and right-hemispheric strokes. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • List risk factors and causes of stroke
  • Identify deficits characteristic of left- and right-hemispheric strokes
  • List appropriate goals of rehabilitation for a patient who has had a stroke
