The goal of this program is to inform nurses about the use of glucocorticoid drugs, their adverse effects and potential infections. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Explain why glucocorticoids are used as a medical treatment for numerous conditions
  • Explain how treatment with glucocorticoids increases the risk for infections
  • Describe three infections that may result from glucocorticoid use and their treatments
