The goal of this program is to help New Jersey nurses meet the state requirement for organ donation for relicensure. After studying the information presented, you will be able to:
  • Describe the gap between the number of organs donated and the number of people waiting for transplants
  • Explain the donation conversation, including the notification and authorization process
  • Describe the most common myths and misconceptions surrounding donation
  • Explain the collaborative relationship between the organ procurement organization and hospital staff, specifically the role of the nurse, in the donation process
