The purpose of this program is to provide nurses, dietitians, EMTs and paramedics, fitness professionals, health educators, speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists with information about spinal cord injury rehabilitation and the management of chronic spinal cord injury. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to:
- Describe functional potential for people with spinal cord injury at specific levels of injury
- Discuss interventions for specific physiological alterations following spinal cord injury
- Describe signs and symptoms and management of the following complications of chronic spinal cord injury: autonomic dysreflexia, chronic pain, spasticity, syringomyelia and heterotrophic ossification
