The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of illness and exclusion concerns in child care and best practice standards that nurses and social workers should use to provide treatment to children and guidance to parents and child care providers. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Discuss factors that contribute to illness and infectious diseases in child care and early education settings
  • Identify the national pediatric health and safety standards that are the basis for best practice recommendations for child illness and exclusion
