The goal of this program is to provide nurses, dietitians, dietary managers, physical therapists, EMTs and paramedics with information about the incidence, etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and pharmacological management of heart failure, including the use of B-type natriuretic peptide assay levels. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe the pathophysiology of heart failure
  • Discuss the use of BNP assay levels in the management of heart failure
  • Discuss the main classes of medications used in the management of heart failure
