The goal of this continuing education program is to enhance nurses’ ability to care for adult patients with HIV opportunistic infections. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:

  • Name three AIDS-related opportunistic infections that are reactivations of previously acquired infections
  • Describe the impact effective anti-retroviral treatment has on the incidence and morbidity associated with opportunistic infections
