The goal of this multiple sclerosis continuing education program is to provide general information about multiple sclerosis and update nurses’, rehabilitation therapists’ and mental health professionals’ knowledge of treatment, including management of symptoms and relapses and slowing disease progression. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify two interventions for each of the MS symptoms reviewed: fatigue, mobility impairment and elimination dysfunction
  • Describe the treatment for acute relapses
  • List at least five of the first-line disease-modifying medications, including three injectable and two oral drugs
