Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education module is to enhance nurses’ ability to care for patients who are undergoing cardiac-invasive procedures. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • List factors associated with increased risk for vascular complications in patients undergoing cardiac-invasive procedures
  • Discuss common sensations and anxieties experienced by patients undergoing cardiac-invasive procedures
  • Describe nursing care associated with procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory
