Objectives:
The goal of this fall risk continuing education program is to improve the ability of nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists to identify and minimize risk factors for falls in the older adult population and reduce the risk of patient harm resulting from falls. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify the major physical, psychological and environmental risk factors for falls in older adults
  • List measures that can prevent falls in home, hospital and long-term care settings
  • Conduct a thorough evaluation after a fall
