Objectives:
The goal of this program is to raise healthcare professionals’ awareness and promote understanding of the impact of culture on women’s health beliefs and practices, and their responses to current approaches to care. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe cultural influences on women’s health beliefs and practices.
  • Discuss how to work appropriately within the framework of cultural and folk beliefs that may impact acceptance of or compliance with common preventive care.
  • Develop culturally sensitive patient education and care.
