Objectives:
This course has been approved for 4 hours by the Commission on Case Manager Certification for 1/15/10 through 12/31/10, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
 
The purpose of this course is to communicate current information about diabetes, including new developments and changes from previous practice standards, to enable healthcare professionals to provide safe, optimal care and effective patient education. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify the main types of diabetes and recommendations for treatment
  • Discuss the importance of blood glucose control during hospitalization
  • Describe the action and timing of insulins
 

 
Nov. 12, 2013: The American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA) released new clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of blood cholesterol in people at high risk for cardiovascular diseases caused by atherosclerosis.
