The purpose of this continuing education module is to present the fundamentals of case management to nurses so they can identify the value of case management in today’s healthcare system and apply key concepts to their own case management or related practices. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify knowledge and skills that experienced RNs bring to the case management role.
  • Recognize six core components within case management services that determine the “model” and help organizations improve quality and finances and reduce risks 
  • Cite examples of six essential case management processes used by RN case managers
  • Explain how case managers are positioned to achieve the employing organization’s mission and margin
  • Review methods that case management leaders use to help staff case managers keep up-to-date and committed to their practice
Effective 8/1/2014, the Florida Board of Nursing will not accept contact hours offered in tenth hour increments (example: 1.6 contact hours). Course contact hours will be rounded down to the nearest half hour (example: 1.6 contact hours becomes 1.5 contact hours, 1.4 contact hours becomes 1.0 contact hours). This course will be reported to CE Broker for FL RNs, LPNs, ARNPs, and CNSs as 5.5 hours.
