Objectives:
The goal of this program is to provide EMS personnel with information about traumatic brain injuries, including epidemiology, types of injuries, signs and symptoms, and assessment, interventions, and evaluation. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Identify the common types of brain injuries that result from head trauma.
  • Describe the signs and symptoms of common traumatic brain injuries.
  • Discuss the prehospital considerations in the care of patients with traumatic brain injuries.
