Objectives:
The goal of this fueling for exercise and recovery continuing education program is to provide registered dietitians, health educators, pharmacists and physical therapists with guidelines to fuel athletes and active individuals before, during and after exercise. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Identify the amount of carbohydrates recommended based on body weight for a pre-exercise meal consumed one to four hours before exercise.
  • Identify the amount of carbohydrates recommended during exercise based on exercise intensity and duration of activity.
  • Identify the amount of carbohydrates recommended based on body weight and exercise intensity and duration for recovery following exercise.
