The goal of this program is to enhance perioperative nurses’, pharmacists’ and physicians’ knowledge of the use of vasoactive drugs in the clinical setting. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
- Discuss the mechanism of action for common vasoactive drugs and indications for their use in the OR
- Describe the physiologic effects of vasoactive drug therapy in order to anticipate and react appropriately to positive and negative outcomes
- Provide standard dosages for the safe administration and titration of vasoactive drugs
