Objectives:
The purpose of this program is to inform nurses of the pathophysiology, assessment and treatment of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • List factors that precipitate disseminated intravascular coagulation.
  • Identify assessment parameters and lab values associated with DIC.
  • Discuss nursing interventions for patients who exhibit indications of DIC.
