Objectives:

The purpose of this program is to provide nurses with information about the risks elderly adults face when they are admitted to an acute care hospital and the role that nurses have in reducing those risks. When you complete this module, you will be able to —

  • Identify risks associated with the hospitalization of older adults
  • State ways that nurses can help recognize and prevent adverse events in the hospitalized elderly
  • Describe nursing research findings that have implications for improving care for hospitalized elders.
