The goal of this program is to provide nurses, EMTs, and respiratory therapists with an understanding of the pathophysiology of injuries related to blunt chest trauma and to promote awareness of the methods used in assessing and managing the care of these patients. After studying the information here, you will be able to:
- Identify the most common causes of and pathophysiology associated with blunt chest trauma
- Describe the elements of assessment for patients with sustained blunt chest trauma
- Differentiate injuries that may occur as a result of blunt chest trauma and describe interventions and injury management for them
