The goal of this program is to provide nurses, physical therapists, EMTs/paramedics and physicians with information about the etiology, risk factors, signs and symptoms and pharmacologic management of acute ischemic stroke, including stroke complicating cardiac catheterization. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
- Identify two causes of acute ischemic stroke
- Describe the evaluation process for recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) in acute ischemic stroke
- Discuss the pharmacologic management of acute ischemic stroke
