Objectives:
The purpose of this divorce CE module is to provide nurses with information about the psychological dynamics of divorce and their effects on divorcing spouses. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Identify the dynamics that underlie successful marriages and marriages that end in divorce.
  • Explain the connection between early interpersonal development and marital relationship dynamics.
  • Discuss the psychological response of children and adults to divorce and identify individual coping mechanisms and treatment interventions that nurses can promote.
