The goal of this pain management continuing education program for nurses is to provide information on the basics of pain management while allowing them to meet Michigan’s continuing education requirement in pain management for RN relicensure. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Discuss the effect of untreated and undertreated pain on the patient’s spiritual, emotional, psychosocial, physiological and quality-of-life functioning
  • Discuss how to overcome the barriers to pain management
  • Describe the basic principles of pain management in the care of patients
