Objectives:

 

The goal of this capsule endoscopy continuing education program is to familiarize nurses with the risks, benefits, and therapeutic ramifications of capsule endoscopy, as it relates to patients with suspected diseases of the small intestine. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Describe the role of capsule endoscopy in the diagnosis of diseases of the small intestine.
  • List the indications and contraindications for performing a capsule endoscopy.
  • Identify the educational needs of patients preparing to undergo capsule endoscopy.
