The goal of this continuing education module is to inform nurses, dietitians, EMTs/paramedics, fitness professionals, health educators, pharmacists, physical therapists and physicians of the prevalence, effects and dangers of anabolic steroid use among adolescents and to identify personal and socio-environmental factors associated with use of these substances. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
- Categorize anabolic steroids
- Identify the physical and psychological effects of anabolic steroid use in different age groups and genders
- Describe the pressures teenagers face regarding steroid use
