Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to provide useful, practical information about hospice and palliative care that will assist nurses in all settings to determine which patients will benefit from and are eligible for either hospice or palliative care. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Identify patients eligible for referral to a hospice program or palliative care.
  • Explain hospice and palliative care services and benefits.
  • Understand the issues that may delay or prevent referrals to hospice programs.
