The goal of this continuing education module is to inform nurses, dietitians, EMTs/paramedics, health educators, laboratory professionals, pharmacists and physicians about the threat of mercury poisoning in humans in the U.S. and around the world. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
- Describe the properties of mercury, particularly its most lethal form
- List three questions to assess for exposure to mercury and three prevention strategies
- List at least five signs and symptoms of methyl mercury poisoning
