Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education module is to teach nurses the significance of handshaking in their daily practice, to teach the acceptable method for shaking hands in a variety of situations and to illustrate appropriate situations in which to shake hands. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Describe proper handshaking technique
  • Discuss three intercultural differences related to handshaking
  • List three occasions when it is appropriate to shake hands
