Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to help nurses gain a basic understanding of the complexity of herbal medicine, including the nurse’s role, U.S. regulations, uses of selected herbs, and valid resources for information. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Identify the role of nursing in caring for patients who use herbal remedies.
  • Discuss current U.S. requirements related to the manufacture and sale of herbal remedies.
  • Identify at least three herbs commonly used by the public and their indications and contraindications.
