Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to provide nurses with a current overview of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), including pathophysiology, risk factors, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment options. After you study this information, you will be able to —
  • Describe the pathophysiology, incidence and manifestations of AMD.
  • Identify risk factors associated with AMD.
  • Discuss current nursing measures and medical treatments that promote stabilization of AMD and lifestyle adaptation to the disease.
